Calving Season is here

Calving season is a critical time for cattle ranchers, requiring planning and paying close attention to cows and their calves.

During this time of year, here at Indian Hammer Veterinary Service we are dedicated to supporting our local farmers and ranchers during this busy time. Our team is equipped to handle the challenges that can arise during calving.

We understand that emergencies can happen and we offer emergency large animal farm calls. Issues can range from stuck calves to uterine inertia. We provide guidance on insuring the best possible outcomes for both the cow and calf.

Herd Health

Overall health and well-being within cattle within a herd which includes disease prevention, nutrition, vaccinations, and management. Regular health assessments are for maintaining herd productivity and to help prevent the spread of disease.

Pregnancy Testing

We offer pregnancy testing which can be preformed in various methods usually rectal palpation and ultrasound. Early detection of pregnancy allows for better management of breeding and calving schedules.

Brucella Abortus Vaccination

Brucella abortus vaccination, also known as bangs vaccine, is for preventing brucellosis. Brucellosis is a contagious disease that affects cattle and can lead to reproductive issues. It is important for herd health and is often a requirement for interstate movement of cattle.

Castration Services

We offer castration services ( removal of testicals) provided in clinic for our large animal patients.  Castration is a common practice in bovine management with important implications for animal behavior, meat quality and herd management.
